Planting a symbolic oak
We live in a time of great concern about the need to save Planet Earth which is under threat of non-survival; from the melting ice caps at the Poles to the wanton destruction of the Amazon rainforests, from the ever-widening expanse of desert areas no longer fit for human habitation and the general disregard for the value of maintaining a natural healthy ecosystem, all of this is shouted from the rooftops by the scientists and their warnings are dire.
Generous to a fault…..
As Religious is this not what we are called to do? We too are to scatter seed far and wide and not be concerned where it ends up but rather be of generous spirit.
Rediscovering Nano
“It is both a challenge and a reward to be part of the International Presentation Association (IPA), tackling social justice issues locally and globally and rediscovering Nano Nagle once again.”
Presentation Sisters Assembly – 2022
We called each other to enter into ourselves, our experiences, our dreams and questions so that together we shape our future walking our journey and reminding each other that God asks us to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God.
Reflecting on a beautiful day in May, in honour of Mary
Pupils of St. Joseph’s school in Matlock joined in colourful procession carrying banners and flowers to honour Mary, mother of Jesus.
June, Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
As the Church devotes the month of June to the beautiful devotion of Sacred Love with the Solemnity of The Sacred Heart of Jesus being celebrated in about the third week, we send vibes of peace and love to our suffering brothers and sisters, His children everywhere.
Celebrating with our Brothers and Sisters of the Orthodox Church
The middle Saturday of May was a special day for the Eritrean and Ethiopian Orthodox Church. On this day they gathered to celebrate the Nativity of Mary in St. Augustine’s Church in Nottingham.
To be created is to be related: a global connection in celebration of our common home
…. the Spirit of God, which flows in the clear running water, in the trees and in the finger of morning, brings us to birth and fills our lives. Creation continues to groan and grow.
Remembering Nano Nagle on the anniversary of her death:
A woman who spent many dangerous years traversing Cork City's dank passageways in her relentless quest for education for the poorest children and to bring comfort to the destitute, could hardly have imagined what an international legacy she was leaving behind.
Bringing hope to destitute asylum seekers:
“Sr Catherine gave me so much hope! Having money to buy food was so good, I could cook and look after myself… I was supported and I made friends. I remember days out especially the seaside and the Christmas party… I had brilliant support from Sister Catherine and others. Hope Projects has given me my life back, I just can’t explain what Hope did for me.”
Reflecting on Nano Nagle’s life
In the English Province, as many of our Presentation People (Sisters, Associates & Friends of Nano) have been unable to meet in person for the past two years, we decided to use this book as the framework for our monthly zoom meetings.
After lockdowns and Covid restrictions, tentative steps towards ‘normality’ for the Sisters at Matlock:
On the first day of March Sister Elizabeth invited the whole community and as many staff as could come to enjoy a coffee event in the Hall. It was a bright sunny morning filled with the hope of Spring, the feeling of newness and togetherness, an opening-up after a dark time was in the air. An invitation to a new healthier beginning for Spring 2022 was deeply appreciated.
