Reflecting on a beautiful day in May, in honour of Mary
By Sr Christina Dolan:
In good Catholic tradition, pupils of St. Joseph’s school in Matlock joined in a colourful procession carrying banners and flowers to honour Mary, mother of Jesus.
The month of May has always been regarded as Mary’s month with processional devotion being the traditional way of offering her public love and respect. The children, led by their teachers and Parish Priest Fr. Robbie, walked from the school into the Convent lawn where the statue of Our Lady was crowned with garlands made by themselves.
The weather was gloriously warm and sunny reflecting the happy colourful occasion it was. Congratulations to both children and teachers for a wonderful devotional display in Mary’s honour.
