Life in nursing and now ministry in the Holy Land

I entered the Congregation as a candidate in 1985 and made my First Profession of vows in 1987 in Whittier, California. My parents were from Mexico and after my parents were married all of my father’s family moved to Los Angeles, California since my grandfather had lived in California for many years. My sisters, brothers and I were born in Los Angeles.

When I met the Presentation Sisters, I knew these were the Sisters that I felt called to join. I had met Sisters from a nursing order but did not feel called to join them…..

However I have been a registered nurse for many years. In California I worked in a few hospitals in different units --- Cardiology, Renal and Emergency room nursing. During Covid I worked with the Los Angeles department of housing providing medical services, covid testing, food, blankets, to the homeless population in the densely populated Skid Row in the city.

For a few years I was vocation director in San Antonio, Texas.

I feel so blessed, grateful and humbled by the many experiences I have had since I entered religious life.  So many wonderful memories but I think what stands out most is my ministry with the Bedouin community in the Judaean desert since recently coming to the Holy Land.
